301QH Stainless Steel

301QH is a common austenitic stainless steel, very resistant to corrosion and containing a higher level of carbon which allows for cold working and tempering.

Carbon: .15. Chromium: 16-18. iron: balance, manganese: 2. nickel: 6-8. phosphorus: .045. silicon: 1. sulphur: .03

Features

Easily formed once annealed

Forging and upsetting can be performed at 1800-2100 F

Cold work methods will be more difficult due to high hardening rate, with increased strength when finished.

Anneal at 1850-2050 followed by immediate cooling (water quench suggested)

Applications

Kitchen equipment, wheel covers, aircraft components, automotive trim, numerous industrial applications.
